1. CREATE A DO-IT-NOW MENTALITY
Avoid procrastinating and adopt a do-it-now mentality. Place the clean dishes in the cabinets instead of keeping them on the rinsing rack. Washing the blender immediately after use.
2. CLEAN AS YOU COOK
After you have prepared the ingredients and have them cooking, you can take the time to clean the counters and utensils you have used. When you have finished cooking, you should clean the pots instead of leaving them overnight in the sink.
3. SET ROUTINE TIME TO CLEAN
Set time everyday to clean your room. You could set 15 minutes everyday to sweep or clean the floors. Also make it a point to ensure the house is clean before you sleep.
4. ASK PEOPLE YOU LIVE WITH TO HELP OUT
If you are living with someone it would be efficient, easier and faster to do basic tasks around the house. They could cook while you clean, they could prepare the veggies and you cook.
5. ORGANIZE CLEANING PRODUCTS
Keep cleaning supplies where you need them. This will make it handy for you to reach for them when you need to clean out something in the house.
When you declutter you get rid of things that you don’t use. This means that you’ll have less items, more space and it will be easier for you to clean.
7. LESS PAPER
Optimize on being more digital and have less paper. This is not only good for the environment but it reduces clutter in your space. There are many things you can do to reduce paper clutter. Adopt a filing system for your important documents and you can take pictures of receipts and email them to yourself.
Give items a home. Have a specific place to keep items when you are done using them, instead of placing them in random places.
Organizing items around the house makes it easier to reach for and spares you a lot of time looking for them. Take the time to organize your spice cabinets, electronic areas and cutlery drawers. Trust me, you’ll be happy that you did.
9. HAVE ROUTINE TASKS
Have simple routine tasks that you do at specific times. It could be tasks like doing laundry on Saturday evenings or cleaning out kitchen cabinets and the fridge once a week. Have a simple routine and you’ll notice that you can get a lot of work done almost effortlessly.
10. KEEP COUNTERS CLEAR
It’s really easy for counters and table tops to pile up on keys, letters, receipts and other things we dump on them. Keeping counters and table tops clear makes the room look tidy, organized and clutter free.
